This blue glazed ‘St Ives Plaque’ in a matt finish is one of my favourite pieces. According to George Perrott’s ‘Troika Ceramics of Cornwall’ book, at the time of purchase of this plaque there was only one other known to exist, that one being finished in a white glaze. The plaque depicts an aerial view of St Ives Harbour and is 'taken' from a painting by Cornish artist Alfred Wallis 1855-1942. This Troika piece was decorated by Honor Curtis. Measurements: 29.5 cm x 21.5 cm x 1.7cm

When it comes to Troika pottery, Decorators' marks are quite important to determine whether a piece is genuine or not. However, not all Troika pieces are signed just like this genuine unsigned Troika cylinder vase. When you see and hold a Troika piece in person, you just know the difference between genuine and fake! This medium open-top cylinder vase measures 19 cm tall. The piece has a nice symmetrical pattern all round. It has a textured outer surface while the inner surface is white, smooth and glazed.

This early large troika terracotta plate / charger was thrown by Benny Sirota probably within the first year of the pottery opening. It has strong blue/turquoise & black glazes with a stylised leaf design which also adorn many of the various plates the pottery produced. When I purchased this from the seller he told me that he knew of only one other in ‘red clay’ and that one had been damaged. I cannot substantiate this but in all my years of collecting Troika pottery I have never seen another plate/charger produced in this larger size and in ‘terracotta’. It has very early 'scratched' Troika St Ives mark with separate impressed troika trident mark. Diameter 29.3 cm
