This early large troika terracotta plate / charger was thrown by Benny Sirota probably within the first year of the pottery opening. It has strong blue/turquoise & black glazes with a stylised leaf design which also adorn many of the various plates the pottery produced.

When I purchased this from the seller he told me that he knew of only one other in ‘red clay’ and that one had been damaged.

I cannot substantiate this but in all my years of collecting Troika pottery I have never seen another plate/charger produced in this larger size and in ‘terracotta’.

It has very early ‘scratched’ Troika St Ives mark with separate impressed troika trident mark.
