A rare early item as are all Troika tiles! I especially like this one due to the scarab design which the pottery used on several of their items including perfume bottles, flasks, trays etc. This early troika tile is marked with Troika St.Ives in black ink and an early troika trident mark at the back. Measurement: 14.2 cm x 14.2 cm x 1cm -

This is the first ever Troika Bowl of Fruit that was produced, the second Troika bowl of fruit is also listed on this site. I’m fortunate enough to own two that were purchased several years apart. They are amongst some of the rarest pieces that Troika produced with only five being made. This piece is produced by Julian Greenwood Penny and is marked as such...TJ1 (Troika, Julian Greenwood Penny No1) in what appears to be green crayon. Both bowls of fruit, as can be seen from the photos, vary regarding quantity of fruit and glaze colour to the bowl. It is only my assumption but I’m presuming the other three that should/may still be in existence, all vary to some degree, whether that be in the colour of glaze, quantity of fruit, or both. Incidentally, when the seller purchased this from David Lay's auction house in Nov 1998 he was told by Julian Greenwood Penny himself that the other four Bowls of Fruit were sent overseas. When viewing Julian Greenwood Penny Sketchbook on this website you will see his designs for two of the Bowls of Fruit on page 124. Dimensions: 24cm x 24cm x 13cm -
