Early St Ives Scarab Flask Vase
Description
This is a gorgeous early Scarab design Flask Vase that was acquired via online dealer. It has one side with a white glaze that has been hand painted in blue with a Scarab design. The rest of the vase is painted in blue, with hints of green visible in places. The base shows ‘Troika St Ives and the Trident mark’ all impressed, indicating its age probably the early 1960s, and the likely decorator would be Stella Benjamin. There is crazing to the white glaze although it feels smooth to touch so probably either chemical reaction after firing. There is one small chip to the edge and other minor blemishes which don’t detract from the vase when displayed. A much loved early piece.
