Early Lidded Vessel Vase (no lid) with Troika St Ives stamp to base and the word St Ives impressed into it as well.
Early Lidded Vessel Vase (no lid)
Description
This small lidded vessel vase (minus its original lid) is of rectangular form with a white gloss glaze and has been hand painted in blue tin glaze showing the pattern known as the Scarab design, based on early eastern Scarab designs found in ancient pottery. There is no crazing to the main body and the lid is glazed in a black contrast. There is a hairline crack to the base but this does not seem to travel through to the inside of the vessel. Also, what looks like St Ives impressed into the base – unusual. Lovely little piece of early Troika history.
