Early Urn Vase 00788

Early Urn Vase c. 1963-65, black glaze over a blue and green glaze and textured surface. Impressed Trident mark to base.

Categories: ,

Description

Acquired via private collection, a quite rare early Troika Urn Vase, 23cm high, with a textured surface with sgraffito outline marks and patterns on the lower third. The vase has a surface black glaze, through which areas of the blue and green glaze can be seen. The inside has a manganese oxide glaze (bronze effect) and an impressed Trident mark to the base, dating it to c. 1963-65. It sits slightly skewed and possibly may be an early prototype. Two cracks to the rim/neck, only felt on the inside but not all the way through this heavy piece. Two minuscule flea bite chips on the lower section edges – can’t really see any when on display.
